Enhancement of NPS Employer’s share of contribution from 10% to 14% in respect of Prasar Bharati Employees. NPS for Prasar Bharati employees increased with effect from 01st April 2019.
With reference to the Prasar Bharati’s proposal no. PB-10(14)(1)/2019-20/NPS dated 26.11.2020 seeking approval for enhancement of NPS contribution by the Employer (i.e. Prasar Bharati) from 10% to 14% in respect of Prasar Bharati employees.
With regard to the source of funding for meeting the enhanced employer contribution of NPS, Prasar Bharati has agreed to following points:
Fund for the enhancement of NPS for Prasar Bharati employees
Prasar Bharati vide its letter no, PB-10(14)(1)/2022-23/NPS dated 29.05.2023, informed that the cost of enhancement of NPS Employer’s contribution to Prasar Bharati Employees will be met by Prasar Bharati from its IEBR fund.
Further, Prasar Bharati vide its letter no. PB-10(17)/2023-24/NPS dated 23.08.2023 informed that the effective date of implementation of enhancement of NPS contribution would be 01.04.2019 & additional burden of arrears and interest thereon of the NPS for Prasar Bharati employees will also be met out by the internal resources (IEBR account) of the Prasar Bharati.
The O/o Chief Controller of Accounts (CCA) also suggested mechanism for identifying the amounts to be paid of enhanced contribution as well as Arrear of NPS for Prasar Bharati employees, as follows:
a. The Prasar Bharati Secretariat may call for copies of Contribution Submission Forms along with covering letters/challans from all field offices for previous months/years and consolidate it to ascertain the amount remitted by Employer i.e. Prasar Bharati.
b. The amount of enhanced NPS Contribution in respect of NPS for Prasar Bharati employees can be worked out tentatively by calculating the difference between 14% (to be paid) and 10% (that has already been paid).
