LTC rules for Recruits after 8 years

There is much confusion about the LTC rules for recruits after 8 years. I have completed my 8 years of service and availed LTC-All India in the 8th year, but what will happen next year, i.e. in the 9th year of service? Will I get LTC? If I get it, will I get Hometown or All-India LTC? Let’s see it in detail.

After the completion of 8 years of service, all recruits will come under the regular LTC Block year that is currently running. But there are several LTC rules for recruits after 8 years which will decide Hometown or All-India LTC in the 9th year of service.

Current LTC Block Year

LTC Block is of 4 years and it is divided into 2 years of sub-block. The current LTC Block Year is 2022-2025 with 2-year sub-block of 2022-23 & 2024-25. Central Government employees after coming into the general LTC block, may take either LTC Hometown or All-India in each sub-block of 2 years, limiting one Hometown and one All-India LTC in a block of 4 years.

What will be the Block year in the year 2024 if the 8th year of service is completed in the Year 2023?

The current LTC Block of 4 years is from 2022-2025 with the sub-block of 2022-23 and 2024-25. Therefore LTC block for recruits after 8 years of service in 2023, will be considered in LTC Block of 2022-2025 under sub-block of 2024-2025.

If fresh recruits have not availed LTC in the 8th year of their service, they may avail either LTC Hometown or LTC All-India in the next 2-year block of the running four-year block.

The LTC cycle of fresh recruits coincides with the beginning of the second two-year block of the running four-year block, he will be eligible only for ‘Home Town’ LTC if he/she has availed ‘Any Place in India’ LTC in the eighth year.

So, the LTC cycle of fresh recruits coincides with the beginning of the second two-year block 2024-25 of the running four-year block 2022-25, you will be eligible only for ‘Home Town’ LTC if you have availed of ‘Any Place in India’ LTC in the eighth year.
